For some families in our community, money may be a significant barrier to enrolling their kids in park programs like swim lessons, youth sports, summer camps, or youth theatre. We are committed to making sure Urbana Park District programs and camps are available to all children.

Established in 2017 from a generous bequest left by Mr. Vincent Greene, the Vincent O. Greene Youth Scholarship Fund at the Urbana Parks Foundation is meant to help families with demonstrated financial need cover fees for summer camps, swim lessons, dance classes and many other enriching Urbana Park District activities.

Introducing young people to benefits of parks and park programs leads to lifelong participation. This in turn improves physical, social, and mental health across the community and extends to future generations as well.

With the upcoming opening of the new Health & Wellness Center, this youth  scholarship fund is more important than ever – this new facility will give our community’s youth a much-needed, safe space to go where they can play and socialize. The Vincent O. Greene Youth Scholarship Fund will help to ensure that all local children have the opportunity to access the Health & Wellness Center.
